Matrix HPC

January 16th, 2008

When I started working at the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute (BAW) I inherited the maintenance of the newly installed high performance computing (HPC) server named Matrix.

It was a 36 blade rack server with 2 Intel Xeon 1.6GHz processors and 2 GB RAM per blade. It was initially setup with SCore but after a few problems changed to using Rocks. Both systems are Red Hat GNU/Linux variants.

I was in charge of the Server for the whole time as I was at the BAW, but maintenance was neglectable once properly setup.
